My Favourite Tools – Adhesives

After spending time and trying out different tools and materials for crafting, I’ve selected a few of my favourite ones to share with everyone.

ADHESIVES
When I first started making cards I was just using your regular Elmer’s glue sticks as I had very little knowledge of what other types of glues or adhesives were out there. After using it for a couple of weeks I noticed that some of the pieces would easily peel off and the embellishments would just fall off. I couldn’t sell such low quality items and thus began my research for something that was more sturdy.

ZIG MEMORY SYSTEM 2 WAY GLUE

Zig is what I use to glue pieces onto my card. It glides on blue and dries clear. It comes in different sizes for different projects. I usually have three different ones, jumbo tip for larger pieces, chisel tip for medium pieces, and pen tip for smaller pieces. They’re available for purchase in most craft stores as well as on Amazon.

TOMBOW MONO AQUA LIQUID GLUE

The Aqua glue is great for sticking on embellishments with dual tips for both small and large areas. Not only does it create strong permanent bonds but it’s also It’s also kid friendly as it’s both washable and acid-free. Avaliable for purchase at most craft stores and on Amazon.

AD TECH CRAFTERS TAPE

I use this tape runner to adhere large pieces of paper onto my cards. They are inexpensive and you can buy them in a pack of 4. The best part is that you can buy refills for these so it’s creating less waste. My only complaint about these is that it doesn’t always roll smoothly. I believe they’re only available on Amazon.

SCOTCH FOAM MOUNTING TAPE

For adding dimension to my cards, I’ve tried a few different types of foam tape and have really settled on the Scotch brand. It is sturdy, tears easily, doesn’t leave a residue on scissors, and has just the right amount of height. I usually buy it from Michael’s when they have a 50% or 55% off coupon.

DOUBLE SIDED TAPE

Believe it or not, I buy my double sided tape from Aliexpress. I mostly use them for closing homemade envelopes or adhering a straight piece onto a card. Aliexpress offers them in multiple different width and are all quite affordable. From what I’ve received, they’ve all worked perfectly and have had no issues with it not being sticky enough.

ADHESIVE ERASER

This one isn’t really an adhesive but it has been a project saver many times. Many different brands sell this glue eraser and they’re essentially all the same product. The Crafter’s Tool Kit one has the best price and it’s a eraser that will last you a very long time.

What are some of your favourite adhesives? Let me know below and I’ll try them out and do a review!

I mainly use glue dots for pieces that can be easily peeled off without damaging the card. Such items can be gift cards or even magnets.
